So linux is reporting your printer "is not ready" (via use of lpq)

as root edit the file
 /etc/cups/printers.conf

Change the line 

Status Stopped

to 

Status Ready

Now save this file, and perform

service cups restart

Now unless there is an actual problem with your printer you should be good to go
